Oakley

This Covid 19 thing and staying home more had me flipping through YouTube videos of various artists. One artist in particular that goes by the name SLEW, had a video where he finds some artboards he hadn’t used and came up with a brilliant idea to use them. He summoned his audience in where for $200 they could send in a picture of their pet and he would do a quick painting on the boards. The video of him creating those paintings were a lot of fun to watch. Here’s his YouTube Channel if you’re ever interested : https://www.youtube.com/c/CreateForCause/featured

Well, I happened to have a couple wooden artboards floating around in my studio so I decided to do the same thing, although my boards were larger. So for $250 i would paint people’s pets and include the video of me creating the artwork. It was only minutes after posting my idea online that I received responses with Oakley being the first for my good friends, the Peyer family. With this picture, I actually spent more time than I intended to. I had spoken to another artist who liked to layer his paints and I was thinking with an all-black dog, I could layer some color on my first layers and then have it show through my top layers. You’ll see that in the video and how it will differ from the other pet picture I will post. Anyway, I really had a good time with it and I’m real happy that the Peyer’s liked it because while painting it, Oakley passed away.
